NAHAL RECORDINGS

NAHAL Recordings is a label created in 2018, bicephaly curated by producer Paul Régimbeau(Mondkopf, Extreme Precautions, Autrenoir, FOUDRE!) and by multi-instrumentalist/photographer Frédéric D. Oberland (Oiseaux-Tempête, Le Réveil des Tropiques,FOUDRE!, The Rustle Of The Stars). As a sister structure of the electronic label IN PARADISUM, NAHAL Recordings makes weird and wonderful vinyl records and physical objects (patches, silkscreen prints, T-shirts and the like) in limited editions.

NAHAL takes its name from the mythological labyrinthian diagram. The Malekulans of Vanuatu call the orthodox home of the dead 'Wies', and say a spirit reaches it by traveling to the north, effortlessly crossing the lagoon and passing through a distorted landscape. There it confronts Temes Savsaq, the female priest who sits before a rock, before her, a sand-traced diagram called Nahal, 'the Path'. As the spirit approaches, Temes Savaq wipes away half of the lines and tells the traveller that before they proceed further they must complete the plan correctly. Their success will eventually reveal a map of the path to the new world.
