Lori Goldston is an American cellist. She was the touring cellist for Nirvana from 1993-1994 and appears on their live album MTV Unplugged in New York. She is a member of Earth, the Black Cat Orchestra, and Spectratone International. Film scores: Carl Theodor Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) Yasujiro Ozu's Passing Fancy (1933) Linas Phillips's Bass Ackwards (2010) Britta Johnson 's Crashing Waves (2010) Vanessa Renwick's Charismatic Megafauna (2011) / Mighty Tacoma (2011) Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher based in Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic is full, textured, committed and original. A perpetual inquirer, she wanders recklessly across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography, performing in clubs, cafes, galleries, arenas, concert halls, sheds, ceremonies, barbecues, and sanctuaries.
